The route takes us from the monastery town of Disentis up some long steep climbs into the high alpine area of the source of the Anterior Rhine. After a fast descent to Tschamut a fun rollercoaster road takes us to Sedrun. A last climb to Mompé Medel brings us to a stunning technical single track downhill. From here it is just a few pedal strokes up the hill back to the monastery.
The first climb to Cavardiras is perfect for a warm up after Stage 1. From here it is flowing roads along the Rhine to Trun. The climb to Brigels and further to the Lake of Pignu is long, but gentle and the impressive mountain scenery is totally breathtaking. High up we traverse across the mountain until a fast descent brings us to the town of Ilanz, the first city along the Rhine.
The final stage with tired legs sees us climbing a beautiful switchback road from where we ride into the valley of the sun “Val Lumnezia” as it is called in the local language “Rumantsch”. From here we climb up to Alp Nova a 2000m, a true highlight of the trip. The descent to Obersaxenplateau is long and gives us time to enjoy the panorama. The last part of downhill is technical and testing. From Trun we enjoy the last few kilometers along the Rhine back into Ilanz.
