The HotChillee event format requires all participants to ride in supported speed groups. Riders are not permitted to ride on their own.

Each speed group rides as a peloton with a lead car, motorbike outriders, mechanic’s van and rolling road closures with the HotChillee Ride Captains in radio contact with the support vehicles to help ensure the safety of each group at all times.

The format consists of tempo group riding with timed race sections for Group 1, allowing our racing group participants to compete for Leader’s Jerseys, whilst the rest of the speed groups focus on completing the event in a fun and fully supported environment. The actual speeds of the groups will be based on rider distribution, but will generally be:

Group 1: 30+ km/h (Racing Group)
Group 2: 28 - 29 km/h
Group 3: 26 -27 km/h
Group 4: 24 - 25 km/h
Group 5: 23 - 24 km/h

Group 1 (Racing)

Male and female participants will both race in group 1, however there will be separate male and female jersey competitions within the group. Registrations for this group will be limited to 40 riders and available on a first come first served basis.

Groups 2 – 5

Riders in these groups will not be timed. Instead the focus will be on the group camaraderie and endurance nature of the event. Daily prizes will be issued for riders in each group. Each day the HotChillee Ride Captains will select one female and one male rider from their group who has stood out. It will not be based on their athletic performance, but on their contribution to group moral, support shown to other riders, or generally making the day more awesome.

Whatever your speed group, you will be looked after like a pro-cyclist with a mechanics support van following each group carrying service wheels and service bikes so no more fixing punctures at the side of the road.

Not sure what to expect? The HotChillee Ride Captains have put together some advice, top tips and an insight into what to expect riding in the different speed groups on a HotChillee event. Visit the HotChillee Blog to read more.

You can find the route here. It is not technical and there is not a huge amount of climbing but the days are quite long so you will need a good level of fitness.

If you are in doubt as to your fitness then we recommend you have a medical check-up before registering.

“The HotChillee LONDON-PARIS is the bomb for Tour De France junkies born without the correct genes.”
Tim Brink, Editor
Ride Magazine, South Africa

“I don’t think it matters who you are or what you’ve achieved on a bike, riding into Paris under motorbike escort, over the cobbles and past the Arc de Triomphe is a unique experience that you will remember forever.”
Trevor Gornall, Editor
Conquista Magazine

“Thank you HotChillee for the hard work and organisation you put in to make The LONDON-PARIS such a wonderful experience. Stuart and I wanted to do something memorable to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary and you certainly provided that for us. The only problem is we enjoyed it so much we want to come back for more!”
Debbie Prentice
Group 3 rider

“I have ridden two London-Paris events now and this year was better than ever. We had a strong presence of UK Youth Jersey’s, with riders in all groups – myself and Greg Mansell winning leaders jersey’s in Group 1, Nigel Mansell riding with Freddy Johansson in Group 3 and Charlotte Hill, CEO of UK Youth in Group 4, plus many more riding and raising funds for the charity.”
Magnus Backstedt
Paris Roubaix Winner

“Winning the pink jersey for the 2nd time at The LONDON-PARIS 2011 was very special. Pink is not normally my colour, but I am growing to like it, and hope to defend my title. The LONDON-PARIS is an event like no other.”
Tanya Slater
2011 Pink Jersey Winner

“Another amazing experience on a bike for this ageing 40 something! One of the best organised cycling events I have taken part in. Big thanks to Sven and his team. Resting now. Ready for the next one. Thank you.”
Lee Dixon
English International & Arsenal Footballer

“Riding The London-Paris was a fantastic experience. Riding with top class riders, it was as close as I’ll ever get to feeling like a professional cyclist. The camaraderie was terrific.”
James Cracknell
Double Olympic Champion & Adventurer

“It was a proud and emotional moment for me as we rode into Paris together.”
Geoff Thomas
Former England and Crystal Palace footballer

“I was a professional footballer for 20 years and this was by far the hardest thing I’ve ever done and probably the most rewarding as well. I absolutely loved it.”
John Salako
Sky Sports Football Pundit

“The LONDON-PARIS is a truly unique cycling experience, it’s the closest you can get to be treated like a pro for 3 days with fantastic support both on and off the bike. Riding into Paris on closed roads was the big highlight for me, what an amazing buzz that was!”
Jon Sleightholme
Former Rugby Union player

“The LONDON-PARIS is right to describe itself as THE professional event for amateurs, it is so well organised. It is probably the closest most riders will ever get to a professional event with lead cars, motorcycle outriders and rolling road closures. But above all, I think most riders value the camaraderie and the unique experience of cycling in a peloton around the Arc de Triomphe. It is literally unrepeatable.”
Terry Smith
Chief Executive Tullet Prebon
