Test your legs 5 weeks ahead of the ENVE Stone Circle, joining Matt from Zephyr CC and some Hotchillee Ride Captains for a gravel ride to the coast with a difference.
Starting at Guildford in the middle of the North Downs, the route heads southwest through Surrey before roughly following the Shipwrights Way, winding its way to Portsmouth largely off-road and with more varied landscapes than you’d find on the Downs Link to Newhaven.
Hop on a train home at Portsmouth, or dig deep and ride back to the start to seriously test your legs. The choice is yours but it’s a challenge either way!

Speed: Dependant on numbers, likely spilt to two groups ~22kph + 18kph
You can get back to Guildford by rail in under an hour from Portsmouth, with good onwards connections too. It’s 4 to 5 hours in the saddle to the coast (subjected to weather conditions) so bring enough water, snacks, spare tubes, pump and good sense of humour.
We will stop twice for quick resupplies if needed, plus optional longer lunch stop as we near the coast.
The GPX file will be added to the #rideouts_by_hotchillee group on the Hotchillee app so make sure to download this beforehand.
This is a self-guided Rideout. The route has been plotted by a local Hotchillee member who will join you on the ride. However, you are responsible for your own safety. Please ride safely and considerately, and adapt the route to suit your ability and your preferences.
