Yep, you read that right! HotChillee Ride Captain and endurance cyclist Juliette Clark is taking on this absolutely mental challenge in her back garden to raise funds for Back Up Trust, a cause close to both Juliette’s and the HotChillee Family’s hearts.
Starting at 08:00 on Sunday 10th May, Juliette will be covering 300 km a day on the virtual Spinal Circuit, covering all 11 spinal centres in the UK, on rollers, in her back garden, finishing on Friday 15th May, Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Day.
Find out more & donate on Juliette’s JustGiving page!
You’ll be able to check in or ride with Juliette on Zoom any time, from 08:00 to 18:00 every day, so please feel free to drop by with words of encouragement or to keep her company on the pedals. The Zoom link will be the same every day!
The HotChillee Ride Captains will be joining Juliette for the final hour each day, so if you’d like to join them, they’ll be online from 17:00 - 18:00! Keep an eye on the calendar on the HotChillee website or the HotChillee Community Platform for more information.
We’ll also be joining Juliette for the final hour of her challenge on Friday 15th May in place of our usual Friday evening drinks. Please feel free to join, whether you’re riding or drinking and consider a donation of the cost of a drink!
Juliette has been a passionate advocate for equality in sport for as long as we’ve known her. We’ve welcomed hand cyclists onto our LONDON-PARIS event many times over the years with her support, starting with Back Up Trust trustee Danny Turnbull & co back in 2012. Many of you will know Danny’s story but for those of you who don’t, you can read more here, including the #NoLimits 2018 team who raised over £140,000.
In Juliette’s own words, “People affected by SCI do not chose their circumstance, but with the help of incredible charities like Back Up, they can, and do, achieve splendid and phenomenal things. Riding with them has changed my life, it has humbled and inspired me, it has taught me to be strong in the face of adversity, it has taught me to be kind and appreciative, it has made me a better person. Please join me in ensuring that Back Up can continue their vital work..”
